Dr. Strange origin story

Hey Guys,
Today I wanna give you my take on the whole Joaquin Phoenix Cast as Dr. Strange and a possible origin story for the sorcerer supreme.
First of all Joaquin Phoenix who was previously linked to the Batman v Superman movie, has for quite a while been linked to Dr. Strange movie project which still doesn't have an official release date. To me this whole situation is  getting a bit too annoying. We reported the casting of Dr. Strange a few days before Comic Con but it's been a month now since that report and no official announcenent has been made. It looks as if Marvel has no clue as what they want to do with the project.
A second issue, in my opinion, is another rumour which has been circulating over the past two weeks and according to this rumour the movie will not be an origin story. In fact, some believe that since his name was thrown randomly around in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, his character has already been in action for quite sometimes! Even if that is the case I still wanna see how he became what he is, how he mastered his powers and how he ended up on Hydra's radar. Is it too much to ask to get an origin story for every superhero we are introduced to? One of the things that I completely love about the Dark Knight Trilogy is that it showed us the beginning and the end of an hero and that was the only time we saw that. Other superhero movie franchises failed to do that. So please Marvel, DC, Fox and Sony, we know that you only care about making money but at least give us an origin story and closure in your superhero movie franchises.

No jokes rule

Hey guys,
today I wanna give you my opinion on this report that has come out saying that DC has ordered a no joke rule for their upcoming dc movies. There have been over the past days speculation as to why DC would implement such a decision. Many speculated that it is because of the Green Lantern movie which bombed at the box office. Obviously the flaws of the movie were not the jokes but perhaps other factors. Still I do not believe that it has anything to do with Green Lantern. I believe that the main difference between Marvel and DC movies has always been the tone. Marvel is controlled by Disney hence the kid friendly tone with jokes even in the middle of fighting scene when the hero's life is at risk and then you have DC with the dark knight trilogy and Man of Steel with a more serious tone. To me this looks like a good move on the part of DC.
I admire them because they want to respect their characters and they want to treat them properly. Now this does not exclude the possibility of having humor in the movies just like we had it in the Dark Knight trilogy with Alfred making some funny statements here and there but what they are trying to avoid is to make a movie like Guardians of the Galaxy. Believe it or not, Guardians of the Galaxy has been a turning point for WB/ DC it has showed them what to do and what not to do at the same time. It has showed them that they need to have more confidence in their lesser known property like Shazam or Cyborg or Aquaman and that those property have the potential to also be a box office success but at the same time Guardians of the Galaxy has shown them that too much humor doesn't make a good movie. What they want to avoid is to have a character like Starlord basically. They do not want to mistreat their characters by making them do something stupid thing like a dance off in the middle of a crucial fighting scene.
So here's my take on this. I believe that DC is heading in  the right direction and perhaps they will show that there's another side to a comic book movie, a more serious side which does not involve an all out comedy.
What do you think?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie review

Hey guys,
I just got out of the theatre where I went to see TMNT. I know I am late to the party, but It's been a rough two weeks. I moved to Florida and It took me a while to settle in but I finally found the time to see one of my most anticipated movies of the summer.
Let me start by saying that I wasn't a big fan of the cartoon, I watched a couple of episodes, I knew the turtles names and with that ended my knowledge of this universe. Unlike some people I know, I went into theatre with an open mind and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by the movie.
The Positives for me were:

1. The look of the turtles
As I said in my trailer review, I think the turtles look really good. They are enormous, they are scary and most importantly they look intimitading as opposed to other movies where the turtles were much shorter and less scary.

2. The action
I loved the action!! The subway scene was well shot because it allowed us to understand what was going on and at the same time it didn't reveal the turtles look much. The mountain scene was also very well done, I loved the fact that the turtles were always on the same page and knew exactly what to do.

3. Megan Fox as April O'Neil
Everybody was bashing on this movie after hearing Megan Fox was cast as April O'Neil and they might have had every right to do so, however in my opinion she managed to carry the movie very well, her role is very active and everything she does( no matter how stupid it is) fits in well because it got established that it is part of her journalist adventurous spirit. Also, she didn't have to show any part of her bodies throughtout the movie and to me, though disappointing, it is a good sign that she has moved forward with her acting carreer.

4. Raphael
The best turtle in my opinion. How bad ass was he? Simply and utterly phenomenal. He stole every scene he was in. The voice and the look were perfect for his character.

5. Score
You guys know I need a good score to get me pumped throughout the movie and this score did just that. It was well-blent into the movie and it pulled me right into it

There aren't a lot of negatives for me in this movie. Objectively the movie had some flaws but I didn't let that cloud my judgment on the overall quality. The Negatives for me were:

1. Some plot holes
There were some plot holes which made me go: why in the hell is he doing that? For instance when shredder was beating down Raphael, I didn't understand why he would leave in the middle of the fight leaving the turtles unguarded and allowing them to escape.

2. Seriousness and comedy
At times the seriousness of the movie was punched in the face by some poorly placed humor. In most cases I really enjoyed the humor, but in one accasion it really bothered me. Right after Splinter was injured, Raphael decides to go rescue his brothers. Well I hated that one scene when April calls Will Arnett's character to ask him to pick her up. That scene was completely out of place.

Overall the movie was a lot of fun, it was a very good first instalment for what looks to be a very promising franchise. A sequel is already in the works and I am kind of excited to see once again Megan Fox together with the turtles.
This movie deserves, in my opinion, a 7.5/10

Actors reaction on Wonder Woman costume

Hey guys,
today I wanna discuss with you something that I noticed while watching this video.

First of all, let me say that I was very surprised to hear "Mr. Diggle" reveal that Aquaman has been cast. We had known this for quite a while and after numerous teases from Mr. Momoa. We knew that Aquaman was coming perhaps even with a small cameo in Batman v Superman. However, hearing David Ramsey say that our mouth is gonna drop when we find out who he is, made me wonder whether we have been led in the wrong direction. Maybe Momoa is playing another character and we'll get a completely different actor to play the king of the seven seas.

Apart from this, what I really wanted to discuss about this video is the reaction of Green Arrow himself Stephen Amell who looked to me a little bit pissed off. If you remember it, a few months ago he said in an interview that there was a meeting between him and Zack Snyder about a possible cameo which would have linked the DC Movie Universe with the TV Universe. So my take on this is that Mr.Amell is angry at the fact that those universes will not cross paths and in my opinion he has every right to be angry. I mean, you've got a great show which is Arrow, what looks another great one  The Flash (check out our spoiler review of the pilot here) and there's no reason why they should not incorporate them in the cinematic universe. So in my opinion he was simply not able to desguise his true feelings about the whole story and for once it is very nice to see someone so devoted and so passionate about this comic book genre. I am tired of actors who do not give a damn about these comic book characters they play and only do it for the money.
What do you think? Do you also feel as I do on this?

Guardians of the galaxy movie review

Hey guys,
One of the most anticipated movie of this year is finally in theaters. Guardians of the galaxy has taken the box office by storm but was this movie really as good as the box office suggests? Let's find out!
Internet reviewers have all had more than positive reviews on this movie but I have to disagree with them this time. In my opinion the bar things about this movie outweigh the good things.
I thought that the movie had some good aspects like the chemistry between all characters. That was definately a good aspect and I particularly loved Gomora and Starlord chemistry as wells as Rocket's chemistry with Drax. My personal favourite character has been Groot. I had mixed feeling about him and Rocket but it turned out they were the stars of the movie. I think that the explaination given as to why Rocket is the way he is and that to me made perfect sense. At times both the score and some scenes were great. For instance, when at the beginning we see them walking together towards the camera but these were only small scenes.
I also enjoyed the many references to Thanos and I was extremely happy to see him pop up for a couple of quick scenes.
The last thing that I liked was the links the movie had with the MCU. The collector from Thor: The Dark World was there and so was Thanos that we had seen in the 1st Avengers post credit scene.
Now let's move the negatives!
I didn't like the overall tone of the movie. The plot might have made sense in a way, but the tone was too humorous for me. I didn't like all those jokes made in scenes were we should have felt the tension of the fight. I did laugh at most of them but I still think that movies like this undermine the quality of the entire genre. Marvel's president Kevin Feige recently stated that DC has a more serious tone in their movies but I feel that they are going towards the opposite direction. I didn't mind the humor in Captain America: The Winter Soldier but I completely hated Thor: The Dark World.
I also didn't like that product placement of Sony. The camera lingered for too much on Starlord's tape player and that bothered me a bit.
I also dreaded the post credit scene. It was underwhelming to say the least, it was just a small teaser for the recently comfirmed sequel which will apparently feature Howard the Duck.
Anyway, at the end of the day what counts for Marvel is the box office result and I don't think they will be let down by the world wide box office. They have shown everybody that once you have established a good universe people will show up to see everything you want them to see and they will believe everything you want them to believe.

This movie is by far the worst superhero movie of 2014. My overall mark is 4.5/10

DC locks dates until 2020

Hey guys,
I was just finishing up my review of Marvel Guardians of the Galaxy and I read some big news that just dropped on the DC Cinematic Universe.
First of all Batman v Superman has moved its release date for the second time in less that one year from a May 6th 2016 to March 25th 2016, so we have to wait two months less from  what we expected, to watch the most anticipated movie in history. This will definitely help the box office of the movie since the May 6th was already taken by Captain America: The Winter Soldier sequel .
In addition to this piece of news WB revealed the dates chosen for their upcoming DC projects. Here it is:

Untitled DC Film  - 08/05/16

Untitled DC Film  - 06/23/17

Untitled DC Film  - 11/17/17

Untitled DC Film  - 03/23/18

Untitled DC Film  - 07/27/18

Untitled DC Film  - 04/05/19

Untitled DC Film  - 06/14/19

Untitled DC Film  - 04/03/20

Untitled DC Film  - 06/19/20

So what do you think? Is this a move in the right direction for WB/DC? Which movies would you like to see? I guess that we'll see at least one Justice League movie, another Batman movie, perhaps a Shazam movie and a Wonder Woman movie.
We'll just have to wait and see.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes movie review

Hey guys,
I just got back from the theater where I went to see: Dawn of the Planet of the Apes. Let me start by telling you that this movie is flawless. Everything was amazing. The special effects were great, While I was watching the movie I had almost forgotten that those weren't real apes. This is just because all actors were amazing and did a wonderful job at impersonating apes. Another great aspect of the movie was that there's no right or wrong. You simply do not know who to cheer for because everyone is, in his own mind, doing the right thing. Koba and Ceasar and Malcolm and Dreyfus all think that they are doing the right thing and this makes the movie great. At times you feel sorry for the humans, and at times you feel sorry for the Apes. You even feel sorry for the undisputed villain Koba, when he points at all his scars saying that all they did was experiment on Apes. This movie is also a perfect example of how characters should be handled and developped. Exactly the opposite of what happened in Transformers: Age of extinction where we only cared about two characters and the supporting characters are simply too idiotic to care for. Here, in this movie, we get to know all side characters, we get to understand their personalites and the ideals that drive them.
The plot had absolutely no flaws and never once you feel like a particular scene could have been cut out.
The best part of the movie was, without any doubt, Ceasar played by Andy Serkis. He has now become one of the best actors in Hollywood and the undisputed best actor when it comes to motion capture.
I, actually thought that Ceasar was dead, half way into the movie, when they found him lying on the ground with his eyes wide open. I truly thought that that was the direction they were going for in order to have the Apes take over and win against the remaining humans but luckly he survived.
On a side note, one of the things I enjoyed less was the score which was anything but memorable and Kirk Acevedo's character.
No reasonable explaination was given as to why he was pissed at the Apes, and he kept on messing everything up for the humans. His character was simply a plot device to get the story where it was supposed to go.

Overall this movie deserves a 9/10 and so far this is my second favourite film of the year.
Let me know what you thought of the movie in the comment section below.
