Transformers: Age of Extinction movie review

Hey guys,
Trasformers Age of Exctiontion has finally been released in Italy. We have had to wait two more weeks to see it but it's finally here. This is a spoiler filled review. Let's start!!!. This fourth installment in the Transformers franchise is not tecnically a reboot but it kind of is. No references whatsoever to the original trilogy characters and not even a cameo. They could have either said that Sam was dead or that the autobots simply wanted to protect him by staying away.
Much has happened after the events of Chicago and this story takes place exactly three years after the previous film. Nowadays the autobots are on the run hunted by the CIA. Without getting too much into the convoluted storyline this movie is kind of a mess. It's two hours and 45 minutes long and it's simply exhausting and this is coming from someone who happened to love the first three movies(all of them).

The positives for me were :

1. Optimus prime and Bumblebee.
The two autobots that we knw and love are the only ones returning for this 4th film. We  can't help to smile when we see that yellow Camaro or that red and blue awesome Truck. They certainly embody the best of the Transformers. We can relate to them, we emphatize with them.

2. Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager.
If you've read my Transfomers trilogy review you know that unlike many I was a fan of the Sam character but I have to admit that Walberg was an improvement over Sam and I believe that his character had a good role to play. I liked the fact that he was an inventor and his role as a dad.
Unfortunately his good performance was not enough to make this movie good.

3. Galvatron plot twist.
I have never watched a single episode of the Transformers cartoon therefore I had no clue as to who Galvatron was. I really enjoyed  how Megatron was actually controlling what KSI was doing and that he managed to transfer his consciousness into Galatron .

4. Optimus Prime riding a dinobot.
True, we had to wait 2 hours to see him riding a dinobot but how awesome was it? Amongst one of the greatest moments of the whole movie.

5. Micheal Bay's girls
let's face it! He has the ability of turning a regular girl into an amazingly hot chick and we have to give him credit for it. Apart the ass and thigh shots I particuarly enjoyed the shots when she was in the Camaro. Perfect Colors and perfect make up even though she had just gone out of an explosion.

Negatives:

1. Cheese dialogue
Worst dialogue of all the transformers movie, the dialogue was very bad and the lines were terrible, to say the least. I've never criticized Transformers scripts but in this case I'm gonna have to do it. As much as I enjoyed seeing Nicola Peltz on screen I really hated when she spoke because her lines were terrible.

2. Stanley Tucci character.
Stanley Tucci is a wonderful actor but in this movie he was the worst character. He started off really well as the CEO of KSI but from then it got worse by the second. I really hated his scene in the elevator and with the motorbike. As soon as he landed in China he became a completely different character.

3. Sponsors (Victoria Secret , shua milk) samurai autobot.
Was this a movie or a huge commercial? People bashed on The Amazing Spiderman 2 because it contained to many product placements but it didn't really bother me in that movie, in this however there were entire scenes shot with the sole purpose of promoting a product. The two scenes that really got me mad were the budlight scene and the shuwa milk .

4. Plot confusion
The movie is extensively long. Even those of you who enjoyed the movie will agree that the runtime is too much and the movie could have easily been spilt into two parts. 2 hours after walking out of the theater I couldn't even remember the reason (if there was one) behind all those fights and explosions. The plot was simply too convoluted and at times it didn't make sense.

5. Lack of character development amongs autobots
Same problem as the previous movies, everytime we get new autobots which we don't give a damn about and it seems that neither do they. Each time they give us new autobots with no personality and the only reason they do that is to peek the interest of someone. In this case the one of Japan with that stupid Samurai autobot who had no impact on the story and was completely useless.

6. Soundtrack
What happened to that beautiful soundtrack? They used it only in a couple of scenes but for the rest even the score was as louzy as the movie. The music makes everything better but they chose to make the movie worse than it already was.

Overall the story had fascinating twists. If the movie had been half an hour shorter it would have much more enjoyable. My excitment  for the next movie is not as high as it was for this one but I will definately not miss cool explosions , nice slow motion shots and beautiful chicks running around in shorts .
Despite the obvious flaws of the movie I believe that Micheal  Bay has clearly found the recipe for printing easy money and people love to see this type of movies.
I truly hope Michael Bay acknowledges his mistakes and gives us a next instalments which will resemble less this one and more the previous ones.
