5 Reasons why Thor: The Dark World wasn't great & more

Hi Guys,
Thor: the Dark World grossed more than 600 million $ all over the world and it is as of right now the 3hd highest grossing movie of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is obvious that the success of Marvel: The Avengers has affected the solo movies as well and Thor: The Dark World is no exception.
Box office results aside, however the movie wasn't as good as the first one.

1. Change of Director
The replacement of Kenneth Branagh with Alan Taylor in the director seat drastically changed the portrayal of Thor in the second film. Everybody noticed the different style of the two films and considering that the first film was thought to be by many the second best solo movie of the MCU then you can see why this change of style bothered me

2. Villain
Malekith wasn't a strong villain. The first Thor movie had Loki as the main villain and the story of why he became a villain made perfect sense. Plus he proved to be a great villain enough to be the opponent for which the Avengers teamed up for. Makekith started off well by killing Thor's mother but in the final battle it wasn't that hard for Thor to defeat him and save the world from the Darkness.

3. Plot Holes
The whole story revolved around Malekith being defeated by ,Odin's father, Bor thousands of years before the birth of Thor. Awakened by the release of the Aether, Malekith seeks vengeance against Asgard. In his attack against Asgard, Malekith manages to elude Heimdall control with a thousand year old spaceship. This is one of the main plot holes of the movie among others that I will not list.

4. Soundtrack
As I always say, a movie is as great as its soundtrack and I don't see why they didn't use the same soundtrack of the first movie which was awesome. The poor score didn't help the movie at all.

5. Jokes
What is up with Marvel movies and jokes? I feel that as we progress in the MCU there are always more jokes. Don't get me wrong I love jokes in these kind of movie but I feel that there were too many in this film. Even in the final battle there were several jokes, it feels as the screenwriter tells you not to worry about the outcome of the battle because you already know that Thor will win.

Overall, the movie was nothing like the first one but it was enjoyable in some parts. A few weeks ago, seeing the box office success, there have been numerous websites running the news that Thor 3 has been greenlit and will be released in Marvel Phase 3. This is a good news and I truly hope that Marvel will acknoledge its mistakes and fix them in the next movie,

As always let me know in the comment section what you think of this movie
